La Venencia: Andalusia in a glass

La Venencia: Andalusia in a glass

Madrid's historic tavern, serving Fino and oloroso sherries in a warm and naturally very English ambience.

A historic tavern in the Centro district of Madrid, the Venencia is entirely dedicated to the glory of sherry, this wine mutated from aguardiente brandy from the city of Cadiz, in the extreme south of Spain. Surrounded by old barrels and traditional woodwork, start your oenological experience with dry sherry, called Fino, before moving onto the heavier wines, such as the olorosos. For sweeter wines, try Pedro Ximenez or Moscatel sherries. To accompany these nectars, the establishment offers a concise but oh so effective menu of tempting tapas like chipirons, mussels in spicy marinade and Iberian ham.
