The art collection of the Pinacoteca di Brera is considered one of the most important in Italy. Housed in an old Baroque palace, it was the Academy of Fine Arts before hosting the pictorial works of the great Italian masters: Raphael, Rubens, Caravaggio and Modigliani are all here.
Behind its austere facade, the building offers an impressive succession of paintings that you will discover in chronological order according to their school. Giovanni Bellini's Pietà is next to Raphael's Wedding of the Virgin and Lamentation on the Dead Christ of Mantegna.
Before you enter, take a break in the inner courtyard in front of the statue of the Roman god Mars, represented by Antonio Canova with the traits of Napoleon Bonaparte, then admire the magnificent corridors of pristine white.
