The famous Picasso Museum is surrounded by five edifices and palaces of the 13th and 15th centuries. The museum is the inventive idea of Jaime Sabartés, a close friend of Picasso's who was also his former personal secretary.
Opened in 1963, the collection was first comprised of works that the painter gave to the city of Barcelona. It is one of the most visited museums in the city, with some 3,800 works by the Andalusian painter, making it one of the most important Picasso museums in the world. Some of its many masterpieces are Science and Charity and First Communion.
A wonderful museum, it will allow you to enter into the intimacy of the artist and discover his universe and the ties that unite him with the city of Barcelona, where he spent the first part of his life, and where he exhibited his earliest works.
