The Hugh Lane (formerly the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art) plunges you back into the rich and high in vitamins 60's creations.

The “Best of Decades: Painting and Sculpture of the 1960's from the Collection” exhibition offers a selection of works from the 60's at the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art. It is a playful way to plunge the visitor into the rich and creative sixties decade and it keeps the vast collection alive by giving new thematic display.

On the picture rails of Charlemont House (neoclassic townhouse designed by William Chambers in 1765 for the first Count of Charlemont), you will admire many pieces from the period, signed by prestigious names: Mary Swanzy, Norah McGuinness, Niki de Saint Phalle, Agnes Martin, William Scott, Patrick Scott, Joseph Beuys, Louis le Brocquy and Francis Bacon. Do not miss the famous Outskirts painting, in which Philip Guston skilfully mineralizes the urban landscape.

For this exhibition, the Hugh Lane gallery offers a vast overview of artistic creation in the 1960's, riffing on the visual landmarks of a vivid and lively time period.
