The BID, or Ibero-American Biennial of Design, is the place to see contemporary design from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. This year, the BID welcomes more than 400 works at Matadero Madrid. In their design space you can see everything from interior to industrial design, graphic design and visual communication, digital design, and fashion and accessories. One prize per category will be awarded by an international jury. The famous Madrid Declaration (November 2007), the foundational document of this biennial, speaks of the vitality of design in Latin America, a continent where this art is put forward as ‘an effective tool for the development and cohesion' of peoples, and claims to be more human-centred than product-based.
