Le Potager, bistronomic world cuisine

In Algiers' posh Ben Aknoun neighbourhood, Le Potager has become the spearhead for bistronomic food with multicultural inspirations.

On the walls, wooden pallets have been arranged and turned into homemade shelves, covered with perennial plants. A few bargain-hunted 1950s ads and an eccentric-looking headboard turned into a light fixture bring in a final touch. This vintage look can also be found on the terrace, arranged with wooden casks and lined with aromatic plants. The rustic and flourishing decoration at Le Potager (French for “vegetable garden”) sets the tone for a cuisine in which simplicity and creativity are key words.
Scents of rosemary, sage and fresh mint – all from the garden – fill the air in the lobby. The very short menu changes every week and reveals a refined take on gastronomy, reminiscent of world bistro, and with generous servings. Salmon fillet en croute, wok-fried beef or chicken, stuffed poultry with sundried tomatoes and black rice… In the plates, inspirations converge into the promise of contemporary flavours.
