L'Avventura, Italian gastronomy in a movie decor

Set in a 1920s movie theatre in Stockholm, L'Avventura is a fascinating restaurant with an exceptional setting for its delicious and attentive Italian cuisine.

Stucco mouldings, high ceilings, wall paintings that hark back to the murals of Pompei, red carpet on the stairs… Everything would lead you to believe you are enjoying a night at the theatre. Well, you are not far off, for this is the exceptional setting chosen by L'Avventura, an Italian restaurant of the Vasastan residential district in Stockholm.

Amid this former movie theatre built in the 1920s, appetizing Mediterranean scents elevate from the kitchen, and find their way around olive trees and right to you, for an experience taking right into Giuseppe Tornatore's Cinema Paradiso. In this unique atmosphere, choose among the menu's various Italian specialities, reworked in gastronomic fashion: truffle, cep and parmesan pappardelle, the melanzane – an oven-baked eggplant covered in tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone and basil – or the whole roast chicken as a family dish, basted with paprika and tomatoes.

However, no pizzas are to be found here – they have been outlawed from the menu in favour of other dishes inspired by various Italian regions. The décor, at once historical and overwhelming, and the inspired Italian menu make L'Avventura a must in the Swedish capital. Bookings are made way in advance, so act fast!
