Contemporary Arts Museum Houston: art in motion

With innovative temporary exhibitions, learning programs for all and upcoming talents regularly put in the spotlight, the Contemporary Arts Museum shines through the whole city.

Always fresh, always free is the museum's motto. The goal is simple: promoting contemporary art and shedding a light on the relation between our dynamic and innovative current society and the art renewal in Houston. It is located in a surprising building in the heart of the museum district: a stainless steel parallelogram designed by architect Gunnar Birkerts, whom is already well know for numerous constructions in the States of Kansas, Michigan and New York.

The Contemporary Arts Museum opened in 1972. It renews exhibition shows every six weeks and sets a goal in discovering upcoming talents, where they find a space to display their work, hence promoting contemporary art at regional, national and even international levels.

CAMH endeavours to be a place of exchange. Lectures are programmed all year long, and since the museum is meant for a large audience, creative workshops are available to children.
