Chamonix: the grand spectacle of nature

Chamonix: the grand spectacle of nature

Summer or winter, the resort abounds with treasures, to the delight of mountaineering enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Just over an hour from Geneva, Chamonix Valley, dominated by the legendary Mont Blanc, is a getaway destination. You feel the intensity of the small affluent town of Chamonix the moment you arrive. Mont Blanc and its towering 4,810 metres of rock, snow, and ice requires a certain state of mind: a love and respect of the mountains and its ethics.

Travel up to the higher altitudes via the lift or by climbing aboard the picturesque cog railway. The impressive Sea of Ice seems to quietly flow from the rocky mountains, the Aiguille du Midi towers over a seeming void, the Bossons glacier is blindingly beautiful. Walking buffs will be happy to explore mountain lakes, gems between heaven and earth, or venture on hiking trails redolent with the scent of fir trees.

Those who wish to take home a souvenir will find much to celebrate in Chamonix's wide variety of shops, prestigious brands, art galleries, and artisanal workshops that line the pedestrian streets of this ski resort.
