Audaz, bold flavours

Audaz, bold flavours

At once bar and restaurant with a gastronomic trend, Audaz lives by its name (“bold” in English) and tries out new flavours inspired by its local roots.

A village within the city, a residential district left alone by tourists who should know better… This is the spot that real connoisseurs favour, far from the Mouraria and Intendente trendiest fare. One has to say that Campo de Ourique reveals itself fully to the most dedicated only. Audaz is undeniably one of its hidden secrets, already a success in spite of its young age. Launched in 2020, this gastropub is renowned for various reasons: as an after-work holdout in the neighbourhood with Audaz O'Clock, the establishment takes pride in the various creative experiences that take place behind the counter until late into the night.

When it comes to the food, the recipes of chef Manuel Lino (who learnt the ropes in Europe's most famous restaurants, including Spanish three-star El Celler de Can Roca in Girona) attract even the most demanding of local food lovers. He draws inspiration in traditional Portuguese cuisine to create contemporary specialities that remain just as bold. Several dishes on the menu are meant to be shared, including the incredibly hard-to-make smoked jack mackerel (a very popular fish in Portugal), served with a fishbone and grilled lemon sauce. Feeling like vegetables? Then order the roasted eggplant, inspired by Azores cuisine but with an added twist: low-temperature cooked egg, garlic, and sundried tomatoes. We did say bold, did we not?
