We have created the Kids Solo service for children traveling alone: Our staff will accompany your child and ensure his or her safety throughout the journey.

We are pleased to be able to welcome back children travelling alone (aged 4 to 17 years) on board our aircraft. In the context of the health situation, Air France has put in place special measures to welcome your children in complete safety.
Some countries require special travel documents, quarantine on arrival, a recent negative Covid-19 test or medical certificates for travel, including for children. Please check the entry and stay requirements of the destination countries for your child. For more information, please consult the TravelDoc website. At present, children traveling alone are prohibited from traveling to China and India due to the quarantines required on arrival.

Wearing a surgical mask is mandatory from the age of 6 years old, both at the airport and on board our aircraft. Wearing a mask is nonetheless strongly recommended for all children regardless of age. Make sure to provide your child with several surgical masks for the duration of his/her trip.

The health procedures put in place at the airport also apply to children traveling alone. To save time, we advise you to print your child's travel documents before you arrive at the airport.

Your child's flight must not have a connecting flight. Please do not book 2 separate flights if the desired route is not available with a direct flight. Indeed, no Kids Solo service can be provided at the connecting airport. Some flights are not available at the time of booking for children traveling alone, as the Kids Solo service is limited on board our aircraft.

At the check-in counter, we will let you know where and when our staff will come to collect your child. At the expected time, an Air France member of staff will accompany him or her to the aircraft.

Please wait for the SMS message confirming takeoff before leaving the airport. If the flight is canceled, we may return your child to you to wait for the new flight. The person or people picking the child up at destination will also receive an SMS message with a new estimated time of arrival.

The cabin crew will take special care to make sure your child is comfortable and safe. On international flights, your child can enjoy games, movies, cartoons, magic trick tutorials and even meditation programs for kids and adults alike. We will also bring gifts and treats to help him or her pass the time. It's even more fun on board than at home!
Does your child have a tablet or smartphone? Starting from 30 hours before the flight, download our range of magazines for young people in the Air France Play app.

At mealtimes? On all flights longer than 2.5 hours, we will serve your child a meal adapted to his/her tastes, and containing organic ingredients. For children aged 9 years or over, your child will be served an adult meal, or if you prefer, a child's meal. You can also, if you wish, order the "My Fun Menu", designed to delight young food lovers.

Please make your child aware of the need to stay in the same seat during the flight and to stay seated at the moment of arrival, until a member of staff comes to collect him or her. This is especially important for teenagers.

Upon arrival, your child will be the last to leave the aircraft. A member of our staff will accompany your child to the the arrival area and the designated pick-up person.* The pick-up person will receive an SMS with the aircraft's estimated time of arrival and will need to provide a photo ID. Depending on the airport, your child will either have already retrieved his or her baggage, or will do so with the designated pick-up person.

Time to reunite! Now's the time to take a photo with the child and send it to yourself in the Air France app!

* The designated pick-up person must be an adult over 18 years of age (or a parent or legal guardian who is under 18 years of age).

  • A child traveling alone is a minor who is not accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age. However, the accompanying passenger may be under 18 years of age if he or she is the mother, father or legal guardian of the child.
  • If your child is traveling on the same flight as you, but in a different cabin, he or she will be treated as an unaccompanied minor. Your child will remain under our supervision throughout his or her journey, including any transfers.
  • Unaccompanied minors will not be able to access airport lounges, as their infrastructure prevents us from ensuring consistent supervision of your child.
  • Air France can supervise disabled children or those with reduced mobility, under certain conditions. Please contact Saphir, our assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility, for further information.
  • If a flight is delayed or canceled, children traveling alone take priority. Your child will remain under constant supervision by our staff, even if overnight accommodation is required. We will inform you immediately of any special action taken to accompany your child throughout the journey.
